Seranading the Crowds, on the Subway Platform

Musical trio, Brooklyn
Photo by myself on the subway platform at Atlantic and Pacific Streets, in Brooklyn.

A trio of musicians called 'Nauparik' entertained commuters on their way home. They had a cd of their music for sale, as well as a backpack filled with donations.

Here they are playing on a subway platform in Brooklyn. By sheer chance, I saw them the next day on the Columbus Circle platform.

Hi Kitty. In Brazil is very common to find the same kind of musicians on the streets, selling their CD's. I believe they are from Bolivia and Peru. I like the sound of that Pan Flute very much. Great shot by the way.
Hey! Guess what! Next month me and my wife are going to the US embassy in São Paulo for an interview in order to obtain the US visa. I hope NYC is nice during the summer!

Thanks Olivier!

Hi Washington
I think you're right in terms of where the musicians are from. They were very short statured, like people from those regions.

I'm so happy for your interview! NYC is wonderful in the summer, though it can be hot and humid. I'm sure coming from Brazil, you'll be fine. There are many outdoor activities going on, so you'll have a wonderful visit.

The Andean pan flute bands are a mystery to me. Any major city I've ever visited in Europe or North America had at least one pan flute band busking (with CDs for sale).

I picture a large office in Peru that dispatches them to all corners of the globe.

I bought a cassette tape off these guys 17 years ago.

Ha, Wayne, that is funny.
I'm not a fan either of the flute but it looks tough to play. It has my respect!

Hi MissB!
These guys were very, very good. They brimmed with enthusiasm, which translated into the music.

Lily, I'm shocked. Who knew these guys have been around that long? I looked for their website and sadly they don't have one.

We're in NYC now, and I saw these guys two days ago on the train. They were only with us for one short ride but I enjoyed their music. Good pic.

Ted and Lori, how cool?

You've picked a great time to be here. Have a lovely visit!
